Why do you charge a holding fee? Is the holding fee refundable?
Holding fees protect you and me. Your holding fee guarantees you get the puppy you want. Holding fees are transferrable to another puppy under certain circumstances. To hold a puppy, I require a portion of the puppy’s price as a down payment. Holding fees are non-refundable and I absolutely will not hold a puppy until I have money in hand. If you are sending a money order or other payment,
please overnight it to ensure you get the puppy you want. If you choose not to do this, I cannot guarantee you will get the puppy you want. You must print, sign and return a contract before I will hold your puppy or send an email which states “I have read, understood, and agree to the terms of the health guarantee as outlined on the Royal Puppy Love website.”
You will receive a receipt for your payment via email or regular mail. If you are ready to pay the holding fee, please call at 405-200-2888. If I don’t answer, please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible. After paying the holding fee for a specific puppy, if you are local, you are welcome to make an appointment to visit your puppy once every two weeks.
When your puppy is ready to go home, you will be notified promptly and asked to set up a time to pick up your new puppy within 7 days. If you have extenuating circumstances and need more time before picking up your new puppy, you will be charged a boarding fee of $8 per day unless otherwise agreed.
Why are Holding fees Non-Refundable?
When you place a hold on a puppy, I stop advertising that puppy. While your holding fee is holding the puppy, other people aren’t given a chance to buy that puppy because it is being held exclusively for you. If you decide you no longer want the puppy, I must spend time re-listing and advertising and trying to re-sell the puppy. As puppies get older, it is harder to sell them. People who are in the market for a new puppy are generally looking for a young puppy. While I have been holding the puppy for you, it has gotten older, and it will be harder for me to sell the puppy which means the puppy may not be placed in a new home at a time that would be easiest on the puppy. Older puppies have a harder time because they have already learned my “house rules” and must now re-learn their new owner’s rules. It simply isn’t fair to the puppy and, any way you look at it, I lose time and money when someone backs out of a purchase and it’s not good for the puppy—- so that is
why holding fees are non-refundable. If circumstances make it impossible for you to buy the puppy – job loss, illness, family/marital problems, housing issues, etc., or you decide you do not want the puppy for any reason, you can transfer the holding fee to another puppy within 6 months of the original date of payment. I try to be flexible, understanding, and helpful in all situations!
Does the holding fee go towards the purchase price or is it in addition to the price listed on your website?
The holding fee goes towards the purchase price. For example, you purchase a puppy for $1500. You pay the $500 holding fee first and then a few weeks later you pick up your puppy. You will pay the balance of $1000 when you pick up your puppy.
What else will I have to pay for when I get a puppy from you?
Sales tax of 9.95% if you pick your puppy up in Oklahoma. (Sorry, it’s the law in Oklahoma.) Sales tax does not apply to puppies purchased through the internet and shipped to another state however you will see the credit card processing fee of 4% listed as “Sales tax” when you pay on my website.
If you need your puppy shipped to you, the cost is generally $550-850 depending on the airline. You can find more information about shipping here. If you want full breeding/showing rights, add $1000 to the price.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, credit cards, venmo, zelle or PayPal only. No checks or Money orders effective 9-1-16. Credit cards are accepted through Paypal on my website but you must add 4% to your total or you may call me and I can take your credit card information over the phone.
Why is there a fee to use a credit card or Paypal?
If you use Paypal or a credit card to make your payments, you will need to pay a four percent (4%) fee for payment processing. If the puppy costs $1000 your credit card fee is $40 ($1050 x .04 = $40) so the total amount you will pay is $1040 before tax.
I’m nervous about buying a puppy on the internet. How do I know I will get a healthy puppy?
This is a hard question to answer because there are so many scammers out there. The best thing you can do is to talk to the seller on the phone, check references, read reviews and get everything in writing. Ask the seller for the name of their Veterinarian and Groomer. I recommend that you look up the phone numbers for their Groomer and their Vet on your own so you know you are getting a real Groomer and real Veterinarian and not their best friend pretending to be a vet/groomer. Purchase ONLY from a licensed and inspected breeder or from someone you know personally. Check the status of their license to make sure the breeder is in good standing and doesn’t have hundreds of complaints against them. If they are a licensed breeder, then you have recourse against them if something goes wrong. If you purchase from someone without a license, then you may not get a puppy, your puppy may be sickly/die and you won’t be able to do anything about it. If you are having a puppy shipped to you, call the airline and confirm the flight information and all information given to you by the seller. For a more complete list of things you can do to ensure you aren’t being scammed, request the “Puppy Scams Checklist” by clicking HERE. (It’s free).
What type of guarantee do you give?
When you choose the premium puppy package, you get a money back health guarantee, in writing with every puppy, a copy of all health information including shots, worming’s, etc. You will need to read and agree to the guarantee before your puppy goes home with you. You can read a copy of the guarantee here.
Cash-N-Dash and standard packages do not include a health guarantee.
How do you arrive at prices for your puppies?
Prices are based on the color, size, and conformation of each puppy. If a puppy is a rare color, or extra small size, the puppy will be priced accordingly. Puppies are sold with Limited AKC registration unless indicated otherwise. Full registration (breeding and showing rights) are available for an additional fee.
Can you hold a puppy for a Special Occasion?
I will hold puppies for birthdays, Christmas, etc. I hold puppies free of charge for Special Occasions until 12 weeks of age. After the puppy is 8 weeks old and weaned, your balance is due but I won’t charge a $8 per day boarding fee until the puppy is 12 weeks old. I will let you know ahead of time when I will start charging $8 per day.
Why Microchip a puppy?
Because it is a permanent form of identification and allows your dog to be reunited with you if he/she is lost or stolen. Even if your dog loses his collar, he will still have a microchip because it is implanted under his skin and cannot be removed without surgery.
Does it hurt the puppy?
No more than getting a vaccination.
Is it safe?
I have not heard about any issues with microchips, nor have I experienced any problems over the last 25 years of using them.
What does it cost?
There is no additional charge for the microchip. All puppies have a microchip when they leave my home and the chip is transferred automatically into your name when your puppy is registered with AKC.
Do you have an application process for potential puppy parents?
NO, I do not have a formal application process, but I will ask you some or all of the following questions to determine your readiness to be a puppy parent:

traits?
